You have a voice, let it be heard!
Children and adults want to speak clearly and communicate their needs and want, but for so many out there it is an extremely difficult thing to do. Having a speech or communication disorder can have a major effect on a person’s self-esteem level, especially a child. At Griffin Therapeutic Solutions, we help people feel more confident in their speech and communication skills by teaching them the tools that will help them to improve their communication and speech challenges through speech therapy.
We have a certified professional speech therapist that can help children and adults with their Speech Communication Disorders. Speech Communication Disorders include, but are not limited to:
- Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders
- Speech Sound Disorders
- Articulation/ phonological delays
- Language delays and
- Autism Spectrum Disorders
Speech communication disorders can be difficult to overcome, but with the correct therapy treatments, you or your child can overcome these issues and begin to communicate effectively.
Children who suffer from Autism can have communication and language difficulties as well. Their brains will create restricted and repetitive behaviors that can have an adverse effect on their social and communication skills. While every child who has Autism can display their symptoms in different ways, there are some common behaviors that are associated with the disorder such as:
- Not understanding basic commands.
- Difficulty using basic and more complex language.
- Inability to talk to others.
- Inability to read and/or write.
- Using and understanding gestures like showing others objects or pointing.
- May also have the ability to read early, but with little to no comprehension of what was read.
The Autism Consulting services offered are near and dear to the hearts of those who work at Griffin. The Autism Consulting will help to improve the child’s environments once they have been diagnosed with the disorder. The consulting will assist the family and the schools in understanding Autism, help educate those who will be interacting with the child, and help to modify the home and/or school the child will be spending their time at to make it a more comfortable environment that is conducive to them being able to learn, achieve, and be successful.
This service works in tandem with the child’s primary care physician. Our therapist will coordinate with the child’s physician to determine the best way for the child and the family to proceed.
