I'm Kevin Stewart, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (L...CPC) in Effingham, IL. I have been working with at-risk youth with significant trauma, addictions and clinical mental illnesses, as well as adults both in residential facilities and outpatient therapy. I personally experienced therapy success which led me into this field with passion for the past 18 years. I specialize in working with teens, adults and families in helping them to overcome their hurts, hang-ups and habits. I recognize therapy can be intimidating and we often don’t know what to expect, and as a result of my own hurts, hang-ups and habits, I stress the importance of feeling comfortable and trusting in sharing stories by being completely non-judgmental, and working as a team with clients, sharing experiences to learn how to manage our emotions and not allowing them to drive our behavior without choosing our thoughts.
I strive to create a comfortable, judgment-free environment where you are safe to discuss any area of concern. I will provide support, insight, and feedback as you process your hurts, fears, and worries without the threat of criticism. Together, we will find ways for you to heal and rediscover hope. It’s never too late… It is a holistic approach that involves all aspects of who we are and recognizes that - we are not just our minds and emotions (psychology) but also our bodies (which may have physical/chronic pain that we learn to manage), we are social souls and relationships are critical, and finally we are spiritual people. It’s the whole of us and not one issue or “symptom.” Above all it is the individual client who is the hero in our success in therapy - feeling better and effectively meeting the needs and wants clients have.
